Cordell J. Mack

Cordell J. Mack is a partner at Health Care Futures L.P. with over 19 years of experience in health care management and consulting.  Cordell specializes in helping provider clients with strategic and financial needs.  Cordell has served a variety of clients across the county in various capacities related to health system positioning, capital / capacity availability, strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, physician – health system partnerships, asset optimization and performance improvement.  He has served in a variety of leadership and administrative roles including owner/director of a sports medicine rehabilitation facility and administrator for a multispecialty clinic.

 Key Accomplishments

  • Led development of several hospital – physician alignment assignments including service line initiatives, joint ventures, group formation, and clinical co-management initiatives;
  • Developed financial and strategic plans for several single and multispecialty groups;
  • Led several merger and acquisition studies for regional and national health systems;
  • Led physician compensation redesign for several community hospitals and large, regional health systems;
  • Developed several service line plans for hospitals, recognizing the business investment, return, and strategic initiatives;
  • Developed turnaround business plan for several underperforming primary and multi-specialty care hospital based physician groups; and
  • Led multiple engagements resulting in the acquisition of physician practices forming hospital based groups (considerations for organizational design, management model, and compensation).


A frequent author and speaker, Cordell is a regular participant in regional and national HFMA and MGMA events on the topics of physician integration, service line joint ventures, and group performance.

Cordell graduated with a Bachelor and Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from the University of North Dakota and a Master’s degree in Business from the University of Iowa.  Cordell is a member of MGMA.
